Hello there future friends!
My name is Kendra and I live in Phoenix, Arizona, where the sunsets are divine. This picture was taken out of my bedroom window. :)
I was born in Lynchburg, VA and still have family there, but I've lived in Arizona all my life and now attend Arizona State University. I am majoring in Nonprofit Leadership and Management.
This is me! The picture on the right was taken at a local coffee shop called Brosenbrus (Bros and Brews, get it?) that a couple friends and I basically lived at this year. Speaking of, I really love coffee and hanging out with good friends at local coffee shops.
I am a Young Life leader (Young Life is a Christian outreach ministry), so I spend many hours of my week hanging out with crazy high school students and doing absurd things like dressing up as a rock star clown for their amusement (seen in the photo on the right, below). I absolutely love high school students and it is such a privledge to have the opportunity to tell many of them about Christ for the first time and walk with them as they learn about His heart for them and what it looks like to have a relationship with God.
I am blessed with a couple amazing groups of friends! We like to do things like have picnics, pick mulberrys (the activity during which the picture on the left was taken), and run colorful 5k's.
The mulberry-picking friends above were also a big inspiration to come on this trip. Nine months ago I hardly wanted to travel to another state, let alone another country! These people are filled to the brim with God's love for people and the nations and through their friendship and other events, God had completely softened my heart toward missions and has given me a heart for the nations! Praise the Lord!
He has been preparing my heart in many ways and I hope He is doing the same for you! I can't wait to travel with you all to share God's love with people. To show them love because He has made us all beautiful, perfect creations in His sight! To grow personally because we need God's presence in our lives and I'm sure He has way more to teach us in Africa than we could ever imagine. To see South Africa, somewhere so far from home. I'm thankful that we will soon be a little family traveling to this new place together. :)
Blessings,
Kendra Dueno
(Feel free to add me as a friend on Facebook if you want. I think it's fun to connect before these kinds of trips! I'm the only one with my name on there, so I'm easy to find. haha)
